How the house is heated: The house is heated by a combination of solar heat gain through southward facing windows, internal heat gains from lighting, appliances and people and by heat extracted from the ground by a ground source heat pump.

How the house is cooled: In the summer, overhangs shade incoming sun, and opening windows located around the house will allow prevailing winds in the summer to provide cooling by cross ventilation. If mechanical cooling is desired it can be provided by the geothermal system.
